HW- make a stroy

The travel life of a letter [use possive tense]

Once upon a time, a piece of paper was born in the UK. It was made of color in the paper factory. The paper wanted to travel the world, waiting in the sationary in theUK. One day, the piece of paper was bought by little Johney. He is a primary student. He wanted to send a letter to his friend, Audy, in Colombia. The letter was written by little Johney, and he put the letter in an envelope.

Little Johney wrote his friend's address, and put the stamp on the envelope. The envelope was taken to a postbox and the envelope was later collected from the postbox. Then it was classified in the post office. A few days later the letter was delivered by a postman, then it was recieved by Audy.

When Audy recived the letter, the envelope was opened. Audy read the letter, then he replied to the letter from Johney. The letter was recycled in the Colombian factory. Finally, the recycled paper was made into new paper. Then it was waiting in the Colombian sationary shop, and it waited another chance to travel. That's the paper's life story.

Homework 7th July 2009

Homework 7th July 2009 Teacher: David
by Li-wen(Nina), Wang
Using appropriate past and present tenses, write about the last live music event or festival you have seen or visited. [125-175words]

In fact, I haven’t been to see music festival. In my opinion, music festivals always have too many people dancing together, especially the young and crazy people. The place is often set up on the beach, big city squares. I haven’t seen a music festival. I don’t like music too loud and crowded people dancing together, sometimes they also dance crazy. I don’t want to take my children there, because it is dangerous. I have heard about music festivals, some bad news, such us young people drinking too much, some people took lots of drugs to enjoy dancing, and many people made a lot of rubbish in there . Nowadays, young people are always thinking about how to enjoy life at that time. They uausally forget that they make a lot of bad news during the music festival.

Teacher said:
Good Attempt Nina. Please revise the present perfect tense.

Teacher Heather's letter--Teacher training

Dear Nina

How are you? I am very tired at the moment, as I have just finished my university degree and started to train as a teacher staight after. I got my exam results today and I am very happy, sitting in my back garden with a glass of wine, as my results were good!
I am originally from the noth west of England, and have been living in Coventry in the west Midlands, as this is where I did my degree. I will be moving to South Korea in August to teach English in a boy's Middle school for 3-4 years, which I am very excited about!
I look forward to reading your responding letter.
Yours Sincerely

Heather

HW- What's your impression of ILS

ILS language school is my first English school in the UK. When I arrived the first day. I saw many different students from different countries. It was incredible. I couldn't say any long stentences. I was also nervous and worrid about speaking. I think speaking is very important for me.
In my opinion, there are many good teachers here. However I don't like changing too many teaches during a class. My first leve pre-intermediate, but I met five teachers in three months. That's not good for students. I needed to know different teachers have different teaching skills and teachers sometimes didn't know the student's situation.
I have been studying in ILS for eight months. I saw there are many changes in ILS. Now the school has touch screen computers, and teachers use computer to teach us. I got a new English blogger, which records my all homework, and photos of my English study. That's great.

Thanks for Teacher Petra

Dear Petra:
Thank you for your teach. I really like you. When I heared about you had another plan, I was upset. But I still bless you have good fortune. I'm so lucky because I meet you, you are a very good teacher. I learned a lot teach skills from you. You are ambitious, cautious, creative, organised, hard-working, paient for students, great teach skills, push students improving, and use new computer skills. I love it, and I enjoy your teach. Now I'm improving my English, I'm so happy. This term I focused to improve my speaking, beacause I always worried about my speaking. When I prepared my presentation, I praticed to speak many times. I found I can do it, and my kids always told me " mom, well done." That's lovely.

English was my worst subject, when I was young. But now I can speak some English, and I can use English language to present my presentation. That's amazing. After 5 weeks, I'll finish my English class at ILS school. I think when I will go back to Taiwan, I'll still watching English TV show, listening English radio, and speaking English with my kids. And I'll change many my teach skills in my class. If I have a long vacation, I'll go travlling another country with my family. That's my dream.

Finally I want to talk you, you are my best English teacher. And I also can't belive I own a English blogger, I'll still writing English in the future. That way can record my some ideas. I'm going to go back to Taiwan on Auguset. If you have long vacation, welcome to Taiwan. You can live my house in Taipei. I almost check my E-mail every day. So if you come to Taiwan, you can give me some messages. I'll take back some messages for you.
Your Taiwanese friend, Nina Wang's E-mail: ninawangblog@gmail.com

Homework- Rock Stars' strange reguests

Today, my teacher told about Rock Stars' strange requests. She introduced the band of the Beatles. Acturally, I never had Rock star's friends, and I didn't like heavy songs. The band of the Beatles, they had different requests. Van Halen, he didn't like a certain colour of food. Jane's Addiction, he wanted to play their music in a special room, where was rehearsal room. Whitney Houston, he was worried about their safety, so he perfered an armour-plated Merceds. Jennifer Lopez, he wanted white flower, white candles, a CD player, and a TV. He wanted to listed to music. Coldplay, he used to write to somebody. He wanted eight local postcards with stamps, and he also liked eight pairs of socks. Elton John, he needed to clean some clothes. He perfered Dry-cleaning services and two limousines, and Diet Coke. But Diet Coke must be in cans, not bottles. Red Hot Cilli Peppers, hewanted to spend some time thinking in silence, so he wanted a meditation room. That were many strange requests of Rock stars. Maybe many strange requests of each person, they can get more relaxed of their Rock star life.

Homework- Manners in the UK and in my country

Each country has different culture manners. When I came to England, I had never lived in another country. I came from Taiwan, and now I live in England. I'll compare two countries about the West and the East cultures of my experience. There are so many different cultures about life style. For instance, Taipei is Taiwan capital city, and London is England capital city. Taipei is similar to London. Both Taipei and London have convenient transportation, crowded population, air pollution, large shopping area, main train sation, and busy night life. Now I have lived Nottingham city for eight months in England. Taiwan and English are unlike, education, holiday, Weather, Diet, Buliding, Environment, and culture of politeness.

Firstly, I'll talk about Education. Primary school of England is smaller than Taiwan. English pupils are relaxed to study, no big bookbag, no much homework, they always take a lunch bag to school, and pupils always have many school holiday. Pupils in Taiwan work hard. They always take a big bookbag , many textbooks, everyday homework. They also eat big meal in lunch time, and pupils haven't many school holiday. English have longer hoiliday during the year. They have three long vacations, Chrismas, Easter, Summer holiday. Pupils have three sessions and each sesion has one week school holiday. If it was stronger snow, schools could closed. My view is English pupils happier than Taiwan pupils, and English parents needed to take care of children all the day.

Secondly, I'll talk about weather, and food. I felt crazy aobut English weather. In my opinion, there are different kinds of weather types during a day, sunshine, windstorm, raining, icerain, and snow. I never saw snow in my country city, but we often have typhoon. When typhoon came to Taiwan, we often have typhoon holiday. Typhoon always have intense windstorm, strong raining, nobody can go outside. Taiwan food is incredibly delicious and cheaper than English. We can buy anything in store on the street, or night market. And we also have 24hours convenient stores on the street. If we want to eat any thing, we can go the store to buy food and the articles for daily use. Besides we can book different city's speacial snacks online, and moring book afterwards the specacial snacks will arrived afternoon.

After this, I'll talk about buliding, and environment. When I came to Nottingham, I saw English Buliding always had a garden and chimney. I have never seen a chimney and garden house in Taipei. Our builing are flats and large buildings. Following that I walked on the street in Nottingham, I often saw many big rubbish bin in front of the houses. That looks strange. In my country, the city dustmen drive the clean car through each street every day at the same time. We needed to wait dustmen on the street at the same time. And this time we also can see many neighbours standing and waiting the clean car, that's interesting.

Finally, I'll talk about culture of politeness. My feeling is that English more polite than Taiwanese. When I came to England, I often heard "sorry". English always say sorry. In my opinion, I can take my bag to large supermarkets, libraries. Large supermarkets and libraries in Taiwan, usually customer can't bring big bag inside. I think English really respect everyone. So there are many different manners in the UK and in my country. Different countries have different cultures. We need respect different country's cultures.

Homework- what do you think of office gossip?

Office gossip can promote relationship of colleagues. All the bosses always don't like their staffs waste too much time for office gossip. Nowadays technology is improve quick, their staffs can use computer to gossip with colleagues. So many companies have to make a rule. Their staffs mustn't use MSN during time of work.

In my opinion, my job was always busy. I haven’t more time to gossip with colleagues. Sometime I tried to gossip with my colleagues, but they often talked too much about bad news. I really don't like office gossip. When I gossiped too much, afterward I didn't finish my job.

I think office gossip sometimes is important, but office gossip sometimes waste too much time. And I also don't like my colleagues to gossip all the day. I don't understand that how they can finish their job. If my boss knew someone gossip all the day, I think they would be no job tomorrow.

Homework- Take a present when you visit

Take a present to visit your friend, it's polite. In my country, if you are invited to dinner at your frend's house. You should take a present, because your friend prepared some dishes for you. You don't have to buy an expensive present. You can buy anything, such us a chocholate box, a basket fruit, a cookie box, etc. If you forget to take a present to visit your friend, that's impolite. Maybe your friend will not like you. That's too bad.

Homework- English class in the future

More technology will be using in English class. Many students will be studying English language online. Many English teachers will use websites to teach in the English class. In fact, students will take their small laptops in the school. And teachers will teach them by any technology in the class. While students after school, where they can use interactive websites to learn and practice their speaking or listening with another country's people. They also can use their laptops to write and read all essays. In the future, teachers will probably work at home, who can use interactive websites to teach different country students in the world.

Many Thanks for Teacher Petra. ^_*

Part 4- Liverpool and Chester for two days

We visited our best English friend’s mother in Liverpool. We have known Raja for three years. He is our English teacher, and we are also best English friends. He has taught English and lived Taiwan for 11 years. He loves everything in Taiwan, seafoods, people, inculding Taiwan’s pretty girls. He is a crazy foreigner. Now he is still single in Taiwan.

My husband decided to study Master at English University, we found the English teacher to teach English each weekend at our house. We were meeting every weekend morning, and we also was eating breakfast and lunch together. He told about his life and teaching experience. He always said I looked like his homemother, cooked delicious dinner for him, and take care of him. We really like him, he is lovely foreigner.

Now we live Nottingham, his mother has lived in Liverpool. We had two weeks Easter holiday, and we decided to meet his mother, Anna. We never saw Anna, but we contacted many times by mails and telephone in England. When we met her, she was kind to us. She drove her car to pick us up , we went to Anglican Cathedral , Liverpool dock, two birds building, and ate lunch together to talk about Raja’s life. She took Raja’s photos and told us his child stories. We enjoyed her stories.

She is friendly, kind, and gorgeous person. We really like his mother, we know she really misses her son, Raja. When we go back to Taiwan, we still take care of our best friend, Raja. We also share our England experience and show our photos to his mother. That’s would be interesting.

Last year we visited Edinburgh, we met a Taiwan friend, who suggested us to go to Chester. Now we had a chance, Chester is near Liverpool. We went to Chester city after we had met Anna. We just took one hour by train to Chester City. That’s great idea.

Chester City has many different buildings that are 4 hundred years old. Many building were decorated with white and black lines, and the old traditional building’s first floor has a long hall. Many shops open in ground floor and first floor, that’s special building. There are lots of rudiments in there. The Chester City wall is completely perfect, we walked around one circle on the wall. When we walked on the wall, we also can sightseeing all Chester City. I enjoyed in four hundred years ago England traditional City. That’s fantastic.

Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK- Part 3

Part 3- The trip in Lake District for 4 days

I really love Lake District in the UK. When I wanted to come England, my friends suggested me to go Lake District. I watched a film, Miss Potter, in English TV programe. This film is Miss Potter’s autobiography , who is a famous British writer and painter , and created a series about Peter Rabbit stories. Her story touches my heart. This movie shows Miss Potter’s house in Lake District, that is a beautiful countryside.

Let me tell her story of life. When Miss Potter was young, she always had many creative ideas about animal stories. She drew pictures about her creative ideas and wrote down many animal stories. She loved animals and talked about her creative stories with her friends, but her parents didn’t like it. Miss Potter never gave up her drawing. When she grew up, she wanted to publish her creation. Peter Rabbit’s story was groundbreaking for her.
First she published a drawing masterpiece, the Peter Rabbit’s drawing novel was popular. She fell in love with a young publisher, but her parents didn’t like it. She still decided to marry him. At the moment, the young publisher got a terrible pneumonia and died. She was sad and decided to leave her parents, but she worried about money. When she checked her account in the bank, she got a breathtaking answer. The banker told her “ Miss Potter, your account has adequate money to buy many lands.” Then she decided to live the Lake District in England, and continued her drawing.
She loved the Lake District, this place has natural and beautiful view. She bought many Lake District lands, and environmental protection of her lands. When she died, she donated all her land and house to her country, the UK. Now everyone can go sightseeing and see beautiful natural views in the Lake District. I think Miss Potter is an incomparable and environmental artist, who is a writer. Her outstanding creation, Peter Rabbit is still popular all over world.
I love this story and this beautiful place. When we went to Lake District, I told many stories about Miss Potter and Peter Rabbit to my children. I hoped they can understand many Miss Potter lovely stories. We went hiking of the mountain, walking on the Lake side, saw Miss Potter’s house, Peter Rabbit’s world, took a lake cruise on the river, rode the Steam-train , saw Castlerigg Stone Circle, lived four star B&B house and ate English breakfast every morning. We enjoy our four days travelling in Lake District.

Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK- Part 2

Part 2- London sightseeing for 5 days

We first time went to London, we were so excited. When we arrived we saw lots of people in the crowded Tube, who went outside we saw many people bring suitcases on the street. The England capital city, London, there are busy people, traffic jam, convenient Tubes, and famous buildings.

We bought the original tour’s tickets, took sightseeing buses and Thames Cruise on the river all day. We saw many famous places, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Tower of London, Birtish Library, Natural History Museum , China town and the hyde park.
My children especially liked Natural History Museum, because my son is a dinosaur’s fan. There are many big dinosaur models in the museum. Finally I bought dinosaur’s shoes for my son. My son had carried dinosaur shoes box all day. Last day, we took trains to go home at King’s Cross sation. I heard about Platform 9-3/4 at King's Cross has significance in JK Rowling's famous Harry Potter book series. Unfortunately, this platform 9-3/4 was closed. That’s terrible. I can’t believe it.

Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK-Part 1

Part 1 03rd April 2009

My family and I had two weeks during Easter holiday. We were so exicted and planned sightseeing in England. Firstly, we went to London, that is British capital and there are many famous places around the world. Secondly, we went to Lake District, there are many Peter rabbit’s stories and there is a British National Park. Thridly, we visited our best Taiwanese English friend’s mom in Liverpool. Finally, we went to Chester, there are building hundred years old. We enjoyed our English life.
Coming to England, we were not only studying English language but also travelling in the UK for six month. Now we have been to Scotland and England. Our next goal is Wales and France. Then we will the end of our traveling in the UK in August. We will take over ten thousand photos of one year during our traveling. When I go back and continue my job, I will be telling my students about my experience in the UK. There are many great memories and experience for me.
Generally, I write down each travelling experience. That can improve my writing skill and record my travelling. We went to London for five days by train. This is our first time to go. When we arrived at Euston sation in London, there are many tourists in there. I think maybe thousands of tourists in London. The tourists usually bring big suitcase to walk on the Road. Similarly, we bring two big suitcases. Beside we need to take care of our two children. That’s a challenge for me.

Homework- Describing a person- close friend

I tell you about Katherine, who is over 30. I have known her for 10 years, when we studied the same university. She has been married for 3 years. She has a 2 years old boy. She is a secretary in a international company. When we was young, we often went out climbing mountains , shopping, talking about our secrets, traveling to different cities, and took many photos in our memories. We enjoyed our free time, when we were young.

I think she is independant, friendly, reliable, extrovert and sociable. She has lots of friends, and she can do anything by herself. Now we are busy mothers, we must be responsible of our family by ourself. In fact, we haven't as much free time to go out, when we didn’t have children. We were usually chatting by MSN, because we live in different cities now. We especially talk about our lovely children, because we want to become perfect mothers. That's funny, perfect mothers are difficult for us. Each child has some different problems, we are also worried too much.

She likes going out, reading novel, studying English, seeing films, making handicraft and drawing some pictures. We have the same hobbies. Normally, when Chinese New Year was coming, we used to handmade cards by ourself to send to our friends. We shared our best blessing to our friends. That's lovely, we enjoy it.

The only negative things I think we always worried too much about our families. She worries about her and her husband's parents relationship, and so do I. Her husband is the only boy in her husband's family. So she must be responsible for her husband’s parents in the future. Unfortunately, she has the worst mother-in-law, and I have a bad-temper father-in-law. We always have lots of stresses in our life. At least we are best friends, we support our life. We can share our good things and bad things together.

Teacher Charlie's Homework

Teacher Charlie's Homework part1
1)established what has been done and what still needs to be done to finish the magazine
2)decided who will carry out tasks that need to be completed
3)proofread your magazine to check for mistakes and make sure the work is all yours
4)interviewed another student or member of staff about a topic of your choice

Our magazine was finished on last Friday. We checked our magazine that was written by ourselves. And we interviewed teacher Charlie, we asked some questions to him.
Our interview is " Interveiw Charlie. mp4 ". [ I try to share online, but it isn't working , the film file is too big over 100M.

Teacher Charlie's Homework part2
You must post the following information on your blog:
1)what your magazine was about

We wanted to give more information to new students about Nottingham City. Because when we first day came Nottingham, we don't know where we can go. So we topic is where you can go, and wrote life styles, shopping area, education, Robin hood's story, city of caves, and Green's windmill about Nottingham City. Finally, we interview our teacher, Charlie, about how to improve our English.

2)who worked in your group
Suad, Abdulrama, Francesco, and Nina is me.

3)what you did in the group
What’s Life in Nottingham and Main shopping area (by Suad)
About Nottingham Education - Trent University (by Abdulrama)
Who is Robin Hood? (by Francesco)
About City of Caves and Green’s Windmill (by Nina)
Interveiw work (by Francesco and Nina)

4)what were the advantages and disadvantages of working collaboratively and cooperatively with the others in your group
I think our advantages are we can learn more English by teamwork.
I think our disadvantage are we hadn't free time to talk about our project, and we are forigners made magazine quite difficult.
Our teamwork are collaboratively, we chose big topic then everyone chose small topic to write and search website information to link together. And I like to use computer skills to made our magazine. Finally, we finished.

5)what you enjoyed and what you didn’t enjoy about the project
I enjoyed our project, because I know if I finished I can learn more English. That's different English learing. Although I hadn't free time to write and I tired, but I enjoy it. And now I have a English Blog. I try to write my eassy and read Charlie's blog and another student's blog. I know more how to improve my English information. The students blog share more information about IELTS text and improve speaking, listening, reading, and writting experience. That's useful.

6)what you learned from the experience of working on this project
I learned more skills on this project. When we did this project, I learned speaking, listening, reading, writting , and use computer skills. I needed to talk and listen my classmates to choose our topic when we was working together. I needed to read information on website and write down my eassy in our magazine by myself. Then I used my computer to link our small topic together, and to make professional magazine. It's quite difficult, because we have no free time and we are foreigners.

7)how you think it could be improved in future
I think about my blog, maybe I can write down my eassys in England. I think about I maybe to link my student's blog in the future, and open the topic to push my students write and discuss. That's will be interesting.
