Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK- Part 3

Part 3- The trip in Lake District for 4 days

I really love Lake District in the UK. When I wanted to come England, my friends suggested me to go Lake District. I watched a film, Miss Potter, in English TV programe. This film is Miss Potter’s autobiography , who is a famous British writer and painter , and created a series about Peter Rabbit stories. Her story touches my heart. This movie shows Miss Potter’s house in Lake District, that is a beautiful countryside.

Let me tell her story of life. When Miss Potter was young, she always had many creative ideas about animal stories. She drew pictures about her creative ideas and wrote down many animal stories. She loved animals and talked about her creative stories with her friends, but her parents didn’t like it. Miss Potter never gave up her drawing. When she grew up, she wanted to publish her creation. Peter Rabbit’s story was groundbreaking for her.
First she published a drawing masterpiece, the Peter Rabbit’s drawing novel was popular. She fell in love with a young publisher, but her parents didn’t like it. She still decided to marry him. At the moment, the young publisher got a terrible pneumonia and died. She was sad and decided to leave her parents, but she worried about money. When she checked her account in the bank, she got a breathtaking answer. The banker told her “ Miss Potter, your account has adequate money to buy many lands.” Then she decided to live the Lake District in England, and continued her drawing.
She loved the Lake District, this place has natural and beautiful view. She bought many Lake District lands, and environmental protection of her lands. When she died, she donated all her land and house to her country, the UK. Now everyone can go sightseeing and see beautiful natural views in the Lake District. I think Miss Potter is an incomparable and environmental artist, who is a writer. Her outstanding creation, Peter Rabbit is still popular all over world.
I love this story and this beautiful place. When we went to Lake District, I told many stories about Miss Potter and Peter Rabbit to my children. I hoped they can understand many Miss Potter lovely stories. We went hiking of the mountain, walking on the Lake side, saw Miss Potter’s house, Peter Rabbit’s world, took a lake cruise on the river, rode the Steam-train , saw Castlerigg Stone Circle, lived four star B&B house and ate English breakfast every morning. We enjoy our four days travelling in Lake District.

Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK- Part 2

Part 2- London sightseeing for 5 days

We first time went to London, we were so excited. When we arrived we saw lots of people in the crowded Tube, who went outside we saw many people bring suitcases on the street. The England capital city, London, there are busy people, traffic jam, convenient Tubes, and famous buildings.

We bought the original tour’s tickets, took sightseeing buses and Thames Cruise on the river all day. We saw many famous places, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Tower of London, Birtish Library, Natural History Museum , China town and the hyde park.
My children especially liked Natural History Museum, because my son is a dinosaur’s fan. There are many big dinosaur models in the museum. Finally I bought dinosaur’s shoes for my son. My son had carried dinosaur shoes box all day. Last day, we took trains to go home at King’s Cross sation. I heard about Platform 9-3/4 at King's Cross has significance in JK Rowling's famous Harry Potter book series. Unfortunately, this platform 9-3/4 was closed. That’s terrible. I can’t believe it.

Sightseeing on Easter holiday in the UK-Part 1

Part 1 03rd April 2009

My family and I had two weeks during Easter holiday. We were so exicted and planned sightseeing in England. Firstly, we went to London, that is British capital and there are many famous places around the world. Secondly, we went to Lake District, there are many Peter rabbit’s stories and there is a British National Park. Thridly, we visited our best Taiwanese English friend’s mom in Liverpool. Finally, we went to Chester, there are building hundred years old. We enjoyed our English life.
Coming to England, we were not only studying English language but also travelling in the UK for six month. Now we have been to Scotland and England. Our next goal is Wales and France. Then we will the end of our traveling in the UK in August. We will take over ten thousand photos of one year during our traveling. When I go back and continue my job, I will be telling my students about my experience in the UK. There are many great memories and experience for me.
Generally, I write down each travelling experience. That can improve my writing skill and record my travelling. We went to London for five days by train. This is our first time to go. When we arrived at Euston sation in London, there are many tourists in there. I think maybe thousands of tourists in London. The tourists usually bring big suitcase to walk on the Road. Similarly, we bring two big suitcases. Beside we need to take care of our two children. That’s a challenge for me.

Homework- Describing a person- close friend

I tell you about Katherine, who is over 30. I have known her for 10 years, when we studied the same university. She has been married for 3 years. She has a 2 years old boy. She is a secretary in a international company. When we was young, we often went out climbing mountains , shopping, talking about our secrets, traveling to different cities, and took many photos in our memories. We enjoyed our free time, when we were young.

I think she is independant, friendly, reliable, extrovert and sociable. She has lots of friends, and she can do anything by herself. Now we are busy mothers, we must be responsible of our family by ourself. In fact, we haven't as much free time to go out, when we didn’t have children. We were usually chatting by MSN, because we live in different cities now. We especially talk about our lovely children, because we want to become perfect mothers. That's funny, perfect mothers are difficult for us. Each child has some different problems, we are also worried too much.

She likes going out, reading novel, studying English, seeing films, making handicraft and drawing some pictures. We have the same hobbies. Normally, when Chinese New Year was coming, we used to handmade cards by ourself to send to our friends. We shared our best blessing to our friends. That's lovely, we enjoy it.

The only negative things I think we always worried too much about our families. She worries about her and her husband's parents relationship, and so do I. Her husband is the only boy in her husband's family. So she must be responsible for her husband’s parents in the future. Unfortunately, she has the worst mother-in-law, and I have a bad-temper father-in-law. We always have lots of stresses in our life. At least we are best friends, we support our life. We can share our good things and bad things together.
